The Zambia Ophthalmological Society (ZOS) is a registered body of eye health professionals working or having worked in Zambia. Founded in 2009, our membership spans ophthalmologists, optometrists, cataract surgeons, ophthalmic clinical officers, ophthalmic nurses, and optometry technologists.
We believe that Ophthalmology is a noble profession and shall actively participate in all ways possible to contribute positively to enhancing quality of life through excellent and thorough eye care in Zambia.

ZOS Annual Conference 2025
The Zambia Ophthalmological Society was established as a registered professional body for eye health professionals working in Zambia, uniting ophthalmologists, optometrists, cataract surgeons, ophthalmic clinical officers, nurses, and technologists.
ZOS grew its membership across all ophthalmic disciplines and began organising continuous medical education (CME) activities, public eye health screening camps, and media outreach programmes.
ZOS engagement with eye health professionals and the public expanded across the African continent and beyond, cementing its role as a leading voice in regional ophthalmological practice.
ZOS continues to lead national efforts to improve eye health access, eliminate preventable blindness, and empower ophthalmic personnel to fully exploit their potential in providing quality care to Zambians.
Enhanced active participation by all ophthalmic personnel in all ways possible and within ZOS jurisdiction to contribute positively in enhancing the quality of life through excellent and thorough eye care services.
