2025 Annual ZOS scientific congress and AGM

The conference was a gathering of all eye healthcare professionals and partners working in Zambia sharing latest evidence and practice pearls applicable to the practice of Ophthalmology in Zambia.
Presentations were made by Ophthalmologists, Ophthalmology registrars, optometrists, ophthalmic clinical officers, ophthalmic nurses, pharmacist, allied hospital staff, cooperating partners and industry partners.
The conference was a hybrid of virtual and physical participants and presenters.
Highlights were on tips for beginners in phacoemulsification, some unusual case presentations, AI in clinical practice, digitalisation of workflow, global strategies for combating refractive error and practice highlights, among others.
Presenters in Zambia came from all over the country, including from Shang'ombo and from beyond the country too.

Associated activities included an evening for social interaction and award-giving ceremony for best performing candidates in the various eye health-related training programmes in Zambia.
Another activity was a Women in Ophthalmology breakfast hosted by Orbis Zambia during which a talk on mental wellbeing and hearing from experiences of women leaders in eye health were a highlight.
